Hey savvies! Welcome back to another episode of the show. In today’s episode, we’re addressing a question that I frequently get and that is how far in advance should I market my new episodes. So I’m going to share my insight on that aspect plus also how to market your episodes before they’re live without revealing too many details.
So first up, there’s no real secret as to when you should let your listeners in on what’s coming next. It really is all about what you personally want to do and there are several ways to do this.
You can not share at all until the episode is officially live or you can slightly tease upcoming content with your audience, it’s really a personal choice but since community is SUCH a huge part of podcasting, I think these are all great ways to keep your listeners coming back for more which is what we all want, right?
Some fun ways to tease about what’s upcoming on the podcast:
–Share screengrabs from your interviews (or solo recording time) and share on your Instagram Stories. This will let your listeners get a look into what’s to come and who you’ll be having on the show in the next few months without spilling all the beans about the episode.
–Share a snippet of the next week’s episode at the end of your episode the previous week. Now I don’t mean an actual clip from the next week’s episode (unless you want to) but just kind of give your audience a glimpse into what the next episode is going to be about so they can have something to look forward to.
–Share a sneak peek of what’s upcoming on social media. I have been seeing some people share a graphic with all of the titles of all the big pieces of content that they will be putting out at the beginning of each month and it’s such a fun idea because it doesn’t give away too much that they won’t want to tune in but it gets them excited.
Allow your audience to vote on what episode that they want to hear next. This is one of my favorite things to do because it lets your audience get involved in the process but since I record all of my episodes in advance, it doesn’t add any extra work to my plate and it’s fun to see the results. You can have a quick poll like this on Instagram Stories or even to your email list if that’s where your podcast community is.
