Hey savvies! Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. In today’s episode, we’re going to be chatting all about how to prep your podcast guests for recording day + a couple of bonus tips on what to do once the interview is actually live.

Have them fill out a podcast guest form at the same time as they’re booking their interview.  – Grab their headshot, bio, and social media handles right in your intake form so that you have everything you need from them right when they book their spot on your calendar. It makes it so much easier for both you and the guest so that you don’t have to worry about having to get these materials from them later on and can just automate this process.

Send them a detailed email the day before the interview outlining key details. –  I always like to send over an email to my guests with reminders of being in a quiet environment, having headphones and a microphone for the best quality. I also send the Zoom link there as well even though it’s already included in the Acuity reminder emails that go out. If you typically send your guests questions, then this is where you’ll do that.

When you get on the call with them, debrief them before diving in so that they feel comfortable with the flow. – I always like to kind of give a quick run-through of how the podcast interview is going to go down just so that they feel as comfortable as possible.

Now I’m sure you’re also curious about what to do once their interview is actually live so I wanted to throw in a few bonus tips for that as well.

Send them any and all promo materials you can so that they can help spread the word.

Tag them on IG Stories (if you use Instagram) so that it’s super easy for them to just reshare to their IG Stories.

Make sure to make it a habit to regularly check in with them and see how you can continue to support them.

Now, I’d love to hear from you. How do you prep your guests for recording day? Do you do anything special that your guests rave about? I’d love to hear it. Send me a DM over at jenny.suneson on Instagram and let’s chat.
