What We Discuss In This Episode:

  • Danielle shares about herself and how she got started in the online space. She started in the online space as a blogger in 2015 and she transitioned to having a podcast by 2018.
  • Shownotes need to be a dedicated page on your website that goes in-depth about what the episode is about.
  • The shownotes really enrich the audio experience. It allows you to share the resources mentioned in written text. Shownotes are great for discoverability and the more you give, the more high-converting podcast shownotes you will have.
  • Shownotes entice potential listeners. Shownotes allow you to showcase what is in it for the listeners in another way.
  • In the first paragraph tell us what is in it for the listeners and include related keywords for the search engine. Then after the first paragraph, she embeds the podcast player.
  • Podlink allows you to create this universal page that allows you to share all your players in one spot.
  • After including the links to the different podcast players give a brief bulleted list of the hot topics in the episode. It is also a great place to put the time stamps next to the bullet points.
  • Then make sure to list all the resources mentioned and affiliate links. Also, include links to past episodes in your archives that relate.
  • Start off with a shownotes template that works for you and then use tools like Google Analytics to inform your decisions for updating your shownotes.
  • Shownotes are a multimedia document. Add photos and videos.
  • As podcasters, we have a hard time connecting with our audience (since it is a one-way conversation) so we need to add an email opt-in on our shownotes page.
  • Having transcripts is a best practice. She houses her transcripts in Fuse Box.
  • The benefits of having the time stamps are to allow the listeners to pinpoint the time you are talking about a specific topic. If you have time, definitely add time stamps.
  • Danielle shares her favorite podcasts.
