Hey savvies! Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. In today’s episode, we’re talking all about how to get your guests to share their episodes on your show.

Obviously, we don’t have guests on our show for the sole purpose of them promoting to their audience, but it is surely a big benefit so today I wanted to talk about how to get guests to actually promote so let’s dive in!

Share promotional materials with them to make it easy for them to promote
I am blown away by how many podcasters don’t share promotional materials with their guests. It is a very simple step that really helps their guests promote the episode to their audience and the podcast host is likely already making graphics for themselves to promote the episode so why not share them with their guests?

Mention it in your guest application or other guest management process

I always like to mention in both my own and within client applications that while a promo of their episode isn’t required it is appreciated so that sets the precedent from the beginning and they know how helpful it is when they promote.

Make being a guest so seamless that they are excited to promote

Don’t make your guests have to jump through hoops to be on the show or promote the show. As a part of our agency, we offer podcast pitching and guest management for our clients and we have seen some really complicated processes or lack thereof.

Require it

Now even though this isn’t something I don’t really recommend, I wanted to include it here anyway because I have seen some people do this so it is definitely an option. So if you feel compelled to, then you can certainly require a promo from your guests. If that’s the case, you will want them to sign a guest release form prior to appearing on your show.

So I would love to know, do you find that your guests promote your episodes most of the time or do you struggle with this? Let me know over on Instagram @podcastingforentrepreneurs.
